Oman gets its first 7D cinema

Everybody loves going to the cinema, especially when the movie is in 3D – but now your experience is about to get even better, with the introduction of Oman’s first 7D cinema.

Nizwa Science and Technology Centre now has an educational cinema that will let visitors experience motions and movements throughout screenings.
It is hoped that the project, which is the first of its kind in the Sultanate, will help students retain information after watching films there.

Currently, the cinema, which was sponsored by BP Oman, has 200 educational movies, 100 entertainment movies, and six documentaries.

At first, the cinema will be focusing on helping students and faculty members, but other groups will be allowed to use the facilities in the future.

Shamsa Al Rawahi, BP Oman’s Social Investment Manager, says: “The 7D Educational Cinema aligns with BP Oman’s Social Investment Programme’s objectives of supporting the local educational framework.

“The educational sector is fast evolving, therefore, it is imperative to keep up with the global trends.

“Employing modern technologies in education create dynamic and interactive learning environments for students, which aid in developing the students’ information retention capacity.”
