Oman's Khasab coastal highway roadworks set to end next month

Driving along the coast offers up jaw-dropping sea views, but it’s not always the easiest route to take.

But Khasab’s coastal road gangway is about to get safer as improvement works are set to finish next month.

The OMR40 million project, first started in February 2015, has seen excessive bends on the 1.5 km route removed, and measures taken to prevent rock fall.

In a statement, the Musandam governor’s office said, “His excellency the governor of Musandam visited the coastal road pathway project which is located in wilayat Khasab and is expected to be ready at the end of October.

“During the visit, HE the governor checked out the project which is 1.5 km long."

It is hoped the improvement works will boost tourism in the area.

Currently, the route is popular with tourists from the UAE and other GCC states who travel along the road to take in the mountainside and coastal views.
