Jebel Akhdar named as one of the top places to watch the sun set in the world

Travel journalists named the spot as the 11th best spot for sundown views

Anyone who’s visited Jebel Akhdar will know how incredible the view is, particularly during dawn and dusk.

And it seems the rest of the world agrees, with the spot being named by Lensbest as the 11th top place to watch the sunset.

It was beaten to the top spot by Greek island Santorini. Jebel Akhdar beat out the Dead Sea in Palestine, which came in 26th place, and Wadi Rum in Jordan in 27th.

Lensbest asked travel journalists from 46 different countries to nominate the best places they’d ever seen the sunset, and rate them.

Jebel Akhdar was rated 75.07 out of 100, and travel journalists said the best time to visit was during spring or winter.

Speaking about the poll, the team at Lensbest said, “Whether watching from a balcony or mountain-top, the colours and contrasts of a sunset are one of the most memorable views in the world. As the saying goes, ‘you can never watch too many sunsets’.

“From the white cliffs of Santorini, Greece, to the bronzed beaches of Bali, Indonesia, some locations, however, appear tailor-made to watch the sun take its daily dip below the horizon, which is why we decided to compile a list of the best sunset viewing-spots in the world.”
