Students in Oman can now apply for flight ticket compensation

University students who were studying abroad but had to fly home because of coronavirus can now apply for compensation, the Ministry of Higher Education has announced.

Students can apply for compensation through the ministry’s website,, between April 27 and May 3 at 2pm.

The statement, posted on the Ministry of Higher Education’s Twitter page, added, “Students who study on their own account and who do not have files on the Ministry’s website must talk to the General Consulate in Australia or the cultural attachés in the country in which they are studying.”

Schools, universities and other educational institutions were first closed for a period of one month from March 15. Since then, teaching has been remote.

The closures are part of precautionary measures being taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Oman.

Other measures taken include the suspension of flights and the closure of restaurants and bars.
