New blood donation centre opens in Muscat

A new blood donation centre has opened in Muscat, the Ministry of Health has announced.

Citizens and residents can now visit the Al-Seeb Stadium to give blood, with the centre set to remain open until the end of Ramadan

Anyone who would like to donate must book an appointment via WhatsApp by contacting 9455 5648. Opening hours of the centre are 8pm until 11pm.

The news comes after Oman issued a call for blood donations last month, following a significant drop due to coronavirus fears.

The Department of Blood Banks Services has taken a number of precautionary measures to prevent COVID-19’s spread, including implementing a booking system to avoid overcrowding.

Donors must arrive at appointments alone, each blood donation bed is sterilised after each use, and all surfaces and floors are regularly sterilised.
