Muscat launches mobile coronavirus testing units

Oman’s Ministry of Health has launched mobile coronavirus testing units in Muscat.

Two buses, which have been converted for these purposes, will be testing people for COVID-19 in areas where there have been a high number of cases.

Another three buses will be used to transport people to testing centres between 9am and 1pm every day.

The buses will take passengers from Al Hamria, Ghala Industrial Area, and Al Mabela, to the Visa Medical Examination Centre in Darsait.

Transport buses were supplied by the Oman National Transport Company (Mwasalat), while Sinyar Oman is operating the mobile testing units.

The new scheme is part of efforts to control the spread of coronavirus in the Sultanate.

Oman has taken a number of precautionary measures, including imposing a lockdown on the governorate of Muscat and prohibiting Ramadan gatherings
