Oman has called on recovered coronavirus patients to donate plasma as it has been proven to be effective as a supportive treatment for some cases.
Patients will only be allowed to donate plasma after taking a COVID-19 test to prove they are no longer an active case.
Anyone who wants to donate will be able to do so at the Ministry of Health’s Department of Blood Banks Services’ headquarters in Bousher.
The level of antibodies of each donor will be measured, as some tests have shown this can change how effective the treatment is.
The level of antibodies varied, with patients who suffered severe symptoms carrying more antibodies than those who only had mild symptoms.
If you’d like to donate plasma, you can organise a donation appointment via WhatsApp on 9455 5648 or 2459 1255.
The news comes after a new blood donation centre opened in Muscat earlier this month.
The DBBS has been calling for more donors after donations fell over coronavirus fears.
