Moon-sighting committee announces the end of Ramadan 2020

The moon-sighting committee has announced that Eid al-Fitr will begin in Oman on Sunday May 24.

This marks the beginning of Shawwal at the end of Ramadan.

Private sector workers will enjoy a five day break including the weekend, returning to work on Wednesday May 27.

There are still a number of national holidays to come for the rest of 2020, see the full estimated list below.

  • Eid al Adha – Predicted to fall July 30 (depending on moon sighting)
  • Islamic New Year – Thursday August 20
  • Prophet Muhammed’s (PBUH) Birthday – Thursday October 29
  • Oman National Day – Wednesday November 18-19
