The news comes after it was announced that the government had given the green light for a number of shops to reopen last week.

Shops selling shoes, jewellery, furniture, and luxury goods, among others, are now allowed to welcome customers.

The reopening excludes stores in Muttrah and the Al Wadi Al Kabir Industrial area, as well as those inside shopping malls.
