As restaurants and cafés across Muscat reopen, strict health and safety measures must be adhered to.
Guidelines from Muscat Municipality include ensuring adequate social distancing and proper sterilisation.

New guidelines include arranging tables in a way that ensures at least two metres of physical distancing.
No more than four people may sit at a table, and they must be physically distance.
Restaurants and cafés must maintain a history record for customers and staff, collecting their data, entry and exit times.
Sanitisers must be provided throughout the venue, while menus must be disinfected.
Food and drinks must be served in single-use utensils that conform to the specifications and standards. Salt, pepper sugar, ketchup and mustard must be served in disposable bags.
No buffets are allowed and electronic payment is encouraged where possible.
Venues must also display posters promoting two metres distancing in corridors and common places, must cancel customer waiting areas and seats and no magazines or newspapers are allowed.
Frequently touched surfaces must be thoroughly and regularly cleaned using a good disinfection and focus on chairs, tables, doors. They must also document the cleaning and disinfection works in a record and mention the disinfectant used where possible.
Restaurants and cafés in Muscat must adhere to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health concerning the quarantine and its time period. They must isolate staff arriving from abroad for two weeks before they can return to work.
