Gyms in Muscat receive health and safety guidance on reopening

If you’re ready to head back to the gym in Muscat, a new set of guidelines has been issued.

Muscat Municipality has releases a list of regulations that gyms in the city must follow, to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Gyms must not operate at more than 50 percent capacity, while fitness equipment must be spaced two metres apart.

All equipment must be routinely cleaned and disinfected, plus any shared areas, equipment and tools.

Bathrooms, lockers and changing rooms must be regularly cleaned and disinfected, while there must be physical distancing while waiting for gym equipment.

Hot tubs, swimming pools and saunas are not allowed to reopen.

Gymgoers must wear a mask at all time, though it can be lowered when running or doing aerobic sports to allow for comfortable breathing.

You must bring your own towel and wipe away and sweat before it falls on surfaces.

You must wear and disinfect special sports gloves before and after using equipment, plus keep two metres away from other gymgoers.

High exertion sport are to be avoided as much as possible.
