Vodafone could be launching in Oman soon

Vodafone Oman could be launching in 2021, according to Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technology,

A report in the Times of Oman said that the Ministry responded to a tweet saying: “We hope that the third operator will be ready to start providing services during 2021”.

Vodafone Oman would be the third mobile network operator in the Sultanate catering to Oman’s 6.3 million mobile subscribers.

In September 2019, the Vodafone Group and Oman Future Telecommunications announced a strategic partnership agreement to launch full mobile network services in the Sultanate and further develop the country’s telecommunications market.

Recently, Oman’s two mobile network operators Omantel and Ooredoo both launched 5G services in the country and currently looking to scale out their mobile networks over the coming months.

But what does the potential launch of Vodafone Oman mean for you? Having a third mobile network operator in the Sultanate will increase competition between the networks, which could lead to a decrease in prices for consumers.
