D’Arcy’s Kitchen

This spot in Shatti al Qurum promises to serve up ‘a taste of home’, and with dishes such as  fish ‘n’ chips and spaghetti bolognese on the menu, we can believe it. The breakfast options are just homely, ranging from a classic full English to French toast and American pancakes. Plus, once you finish eating, you can wander onto the beach and spend the rest of the day sunbathing.

Dukanah Cafe

If you want to try some traditional food while visiting Oman, Dukanah Cafe is a great option at any time of day, but particularly for breakfast. The interior will make you feel as though you’re inside an Omani house from centuries ago, and the dishes are filling and delicious.
Daily 8am-11pm. Dukanah Cafe, Al Ghubrah South (9900 0204).

Mani’s Cafe

No list of top breakfast spots in Muscat would be complete without Mani’s Cafe. Set up by three mums who wanted to eat healthy food after completing the school run, the cafe has gone from strength to strength since opening. Like any good breakfast spot, there are more egg options than you can count, and trendy dishes like avocado on toast or acai bowls aplenty.
Daily 7.30am-11pm. Al Mouj (9975 5912).

Mint & Coco

This Instagram hotspot has quickly become a favourite among residents thanks to its interiors and its delicious dishes. You can get trendy favourites like a smoothie bowl and poached egg on avocado toast, or something heartier like a grilled cheese sandwich.
Daily 10am-10pm. Salam Complex, Madinat al Sultan Qaboos (2200 7779).

Nana’s is another beloved establishment in Muscat among Instagram afficiendos, thanks to its amazing location and views of the sea. You can get a traditional Arabic, English or Omani breakfast, or opt for something smaller like French toast or croissants. If the weather’s good, make sure you sit outside.
Sat-Wed 8.30am-11pm; Thu-Fri 8.30am-11.30pm. Hayy as Saruj (9100% 3030).
